Richard Edward Kapiloff was born in Griffin, Georgia, on April 24, 1962. He is single and has no children.

Richard graduated from Griffin High School in 1980. He attended post-graduate preparatory school at the Tilton School in Tilton,New Hampshire. He received a BA in History from Hobart College for Men (Geneva, NY) in 1985.

Richard taught at St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, Vermont from September, 1985, to June, 1989.

Richard currently lives in Griffin, Georgia, where, since 1989, he has worked in the family clothing manufacturing business, the KYM Company, in Jackson, Georgia. In June, 1998, upon the retirement of his father, Richard became the president of the KYM Company.
