Sharla Ann Berger was born on March 9, 1963, in Mobile, Alabama. On October 14, 1990, she married Dr. Brian Kahn in Mobile, Alabama. Brian was born on February 25, 1961, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sharla graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Journalism. Brian graduated from the University of Texas, and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.

The Kahns currently reside in Atlanta, Georgia, where Sharla is a homemaker and Brian owns the Kahn Eye Group.
