Mark graduated from Belfast High School in 1953, and received a BA in Economics from Bowdoin College (Brunswick, ME) in 1957. Mark worked in the family clothing manufacturing business, the KYM Company in Jackson, Georgia, from 1957 through his retirement in 1998. He was president of the company at the time of his retirement.

Lillian graduated from Oglethorpe High School in 1953, and received a BSHE and Ed in Home Economics and Education from the University of Georgia in 1957. She taught home economics at Druid Hills High School from 1957 through 1959. She also taught elementary education from Sept., 1974 through June, 1995.

Mark and Lillian live in Griffin, Georgia.
